An Italian jury has found American student, Amanda Knox (center pic) and her Italian boyfriend (on right), Raffaele Sollecito guilty in the stabbing death of British exchange student Meredith Kercher. Knox was sentenced to 26 years in prison and Sollecito was sentenced to 25 years.
They were both charged with murder and sexual violence in the November 2007 stabbing death of Meredith Kercher. Knox and Kercher, both studying abroad, were roommates. A third suspect, Rudy Guede (pic on left), was found guilty in a separate trial.
Prosecutors argued that Amanda Knox was 'a resentful American so angry with her British roommate that she exacted revenge during a twisted sex misadventure at their home' two years ago.
They said Knox directed Sollecito and the third suspect, who was infatuated with her, Guede, to hold Kercher while she played with a knife before slashing Kercher's throat....and yet Knox's parents audaciously place blame squarely on the backs of outside influences and yes, even the media. Take a look at the clip.

Word to parents everywhere, please stop placing your child(ren) on the 'my child(ren) would never do such a thing' pedestal. You have no idea of what your child(ren) are capable of doing let alone who they become when they dwell or roam out of your proximity for any reason. Your job is to provide the guidance, love support that to the best of your given abilities in the quest that they will be well rounded individuals as adult -- capable of making informed decisions inclusive and exclusive of peers who have the ability to make or break them in their potential. Who your child(ren) become independently of you is something that you have absolutely no control of. Whether they become productive citizens or menaces in society is something that may become out of your control to dictate. It really comes to the child(ren) in question in regards if they want to do good in life let alone commit acts of pure evil. So do not place blame on the media, let alone other people, when the negative that your child(ren) does gets sensationalized.
To all academic institutions, far, wide and nearby, rather than focus so much on students being your cash cows to generate revenues for your facilities, try engaging in being more proactive in security/survellience issues pertinent to your grounds. In addition, place emphasis on the educational benefits in choosing your institution of higher learning to curb some of the corruption that may or can take place amongst the enrolled because no one sends his child(ren) to schools of advanced learning to die.

Tell us how you really feel! Anyway, I co-sign the advice. I can't stand when parents put their children on pedestals and look down on others' children in the whole while as if they want others to take the fall for their children participation in some despicable act just so theirs can look angelic.

@ Black Berry
sometimes it takes the parents owing up to their children may have severe shortcomings aside from being brought up well and hold them (children) accountable than placing blame on everyone and everything but the children they brought into this world.

I agree with In The Genes with this one. As a parent, I have no real idea of what my son is capable of doing when he is not around. I just have to trust that he will do what is right.

No one wants their child to grow up to commit a maniacal, perverted, deviant act but there is no need to place blame on the giant known as media. I know they have to be looking at Amanda and wonder what whent wrong.
